The Bullitt County Democratic Party had the pleasure of talking to Kim Reeder, Democratic candidate for Kentucky State Auditor’s Office of Public accounts.
During our conversation we learned more about the Auditor’s office and its important role in state government. We also learned why Kim is the right person for the job!
So…What is the Kentucky State Auditor’s Office?
The Kentucky State Auditor’s office is a bipartisan office that is responsible for upholding fiscal accountability and transparency in state government.
They conduct both financial and performance audits, and investigate allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse of public resources.
For example: do you remember when it was reported that Kentucky State Police had a backlog of thousands of untested rape kits?
✅️ That was revealed during an audit by the State Auditor’s office.
We are in a time where protecting the public’s trust in their government is more important than ever, so it’s crucial that we have the right person in charge of the Office that is in charge of enforcing government accountability.
Who is Kim Reeder and Why Is She Running for Kentucky State Auditor?
Kim Reeder is from Rowan County, KY and has spent more than two decades working as a tax attorney. She graduated from both Yale and Duke University, and then went on to obtain her law degree from the University of North Carolina.
After graduating, Kim worked for large law firms and accounting firms for a number of years. During this time, she was recognized as one of the top 10 tax attorneys in the nation by an industry magazine!
Kim returned to Kentucky to take care of her ailing mother. She took a job as a public-school teacher, where she fell in love with teaching and enriching others’ lives using her knowledge and skillset. It was at this time that Kim realized that she could put her skills to use on a larger scale and became inspired to run for public office.
How to Support Kim’s Campaign
The Bullitt County Democratic Party believes that Kim is more than qualified for the role of State Auditor, and we believe that if elected she will use her office to protect the best interests of all Kentuckians!
