Frankfort, Ky. – Today, Daniel Cameron announced that State Senator Robby Mills will be his running mate. It’s no surprise that Cameron would pick someone just as extreme as him – with a record of voting to cut healthcare coverage, to slash pensions for teachers and first responders, and opposing medical cannabis. Mills should also have no problem with Cameron’s failure to investigate Matt Bevin’s heinous pardons as he endorsed Bevin, supported his unpopular “sewer bill” and wrote an op-ed supporting his re-election.

And it wasn’t enough for Mills to support the sewer bill. When the Kentucky Supreme Court unanimously ruled the bill to be unconstitutional, Mills helped lead the charge for a special session to try to get around the ruling.

“It’s clear from Daniel Cameron’s choice of lieutenant governor what he values, or rather what he doesn’t value. He doesn’t value hard-working Kentuckians–he selected a running mate who helped push Bevin’s plan to slash pensions for teachers and first responders, and who voted to cut healthcare access for Kentucky families,” said Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Anna Breedlove. “He doesn’t value our public schools and teachers–Mills has voted to divert funding from public schools, and carried the bill that makes it harder for educators to negotiate for better working conditions. A vote for Cameron and Mills is a vote for a second term of Matt Bevin’s failed policies.”
